Natural Remedies For Colds To Ease Unwanted Symptoms

Filed Under (Natural Cure, Natural Remedies) by Eri on 14-11-2009

Natural remedies for colds are extremely common because the chemical preparations that can be bought in all pharmacies merely ease the unwanted symptoms and minimise their longevity. These remedies can be traced back for thousands of years.

The usual complaints whilst suffering from a cold are coughing, a painful throat, runny nose, congestion, painful aches all over, tiredness, headaches, fever, feeling sick, vomiting and a lack of appetite.

Natural remedies for colds need not be hard to obtain or make. Initially raising the humidity of your rooms will help reduce the discomfort of a cold. But also make sure to keep your insides hydrated. By drinking more fluids, especially water, you will alleviate symptoms, replace fluids and flush out infection faster. Lemon is also very important among the many natural remedies for the common cold as it help to fight infection and is an antibacterial agent. Honey helps to soothe sore throats. Echinacea and goldenseal have been shown to reduce the symptoms and aid recovery.

If you feel really blocked up the following are extremely helpful: garlic, onion, ginger, spices such as pepper, cayenne, chilli powder, turmeric, cinnamon, cumin, cloves and herbs such as thyme and oregano. Many of these fight infections and are antiviral.

Use tea tree, eucalyptus and peppermint aromatherapy oils to help loosen mucus and heals the throat, nasal passages and bronchial tubes. Inhale vapors of these oils by putting it on a cotton ball, in a steam bath or an aromatherapy diffuser.

Of the many natural remedies for colds there are some surprising ones such as drinking catnip tea (catnip is usually for cats). This herbal remedy has been known for some time. Catnip works as an expectorant and opens up the bronchial passages helping you breathe more easily. It also helps to reduce a high temperature by making you sweat. Catnip contains a sedative compound so it will also help you go to sleep. Catnip should be avoided by pregnant women.

Get Rid Of Hangover Problems Naturally

Filed Under (Natural Cure, Natural Remedies) by Eri on 21-10-2009

Get rid of hangover problems naturally and safely through home-grown remedies and recipes. Pretty much anyone who has had a time of it the night before can relate a story about waking up with headaches and queasy stomachs, at minimum. Because of this, people have searched for any kind of hangover remedy they can find, and have packed their bodies with over-the-counter medicinals on many an occasion.

Generally speaking, too much of some laboratory-made substance can never be ultimately good for us. As a result of this growing awareness, there are plenty of people out there looking to avoid pharmaceuticals and are casting about for ways to cure many of the common illnesses we have through natural substances that our bodies have evolved over the millennia to make good use of.

Get rid of hangover problems naturally and safely, of course, which is actually easier than most people would believe. For example, it’s possible to grow many of these potentially restorative or curative plants and such right in our backyard gardens or buy them from organic and health food stores. Combinations of such plants can be greatly effective against a hangover.

Natural remedies are those remedies that have been created through combining and mixing together plants and other natural substances such as herbs, flowers and parts of trees that, when combined, can produce a substance that acts much like a laboratory-made pharmaceutical. The difference is that these substances are completely natural and safe. Aloe is one example.

For the most part, the hardest thing to do in all of this is the growing of such plants or flowers and then the mixing together according to well-developed recipes that have been time-tested and proven. There are plenty of kits and recipe books out there that make the whole process extremely easy to carry off.

Nowadays, it’s no longer the case that we have to rely solely on over-the-counter medications and prescription drugs. For a fact, many of these medications can build up to toxic levels in our bodies over time and produce a side effect that can be worse, in many cases, then the illnesses these medications were developed to help correct. Natural substances are better in almost every case.

The Myth About Hangover Remedies

Filed Under (Natural Cure, Natural Remedies) by Eri on 28-09-2009

Hangover remedies are a number one searched thing by an average drinker. People have tried a majority of different cures for a hangover but they can’t seem to find out what it is that stop a hangover in it’s tracks.

What are the causes of a hangover? How can I treat a hangover after I have gotten one and are there any ways to prevent hangovers?

Hangover remedies are a subject of great importance to many people. Yet, it seems not everyone understands what a hangover is. The common hangover is caused by over drinking alcohol. That is something everyone knows though. What everyone doesn’t know is that the symptoms of a hangover are caused by dehydration and a lack of essential minerals in the body.

The first tip I have to give about hangovers is that you should be consuming a lot of liquids. I don’t mean more alcohol! Alcohol is a diuretic and it causes your body to urinate and perspire all of your body’s largest necessity! This necessity is water. That is why when you drink you have to urinate so often! It is not just the alcohol your body is dispelling but also water along with it. With the lack of water you get dehydration and with dehydration you get headaches, diarrhea, and many other symptoms!

Thew nest tip I have is to eat a filling breakfast as soon as you wake up in the morning. This is because your body has also been losing a lot of minerals on your drinking binge. These account for a lot of symptoms as well such as fatigue and sensitivity to light.

Hang Over... ...do not get over you!

That is my advice for hangover remedies! Make sure to drink plenty of liquids and stay well nourished and you should be set to combat hangovers! Drinking a little less might work as well!

Natural Remedies To Relieve Flu

Filed Under (Natural Cure, Natural Remedies) by Eri on 21-09-2009

Natural remedies to relieve flu come in many different forms and some actually work while others may not. Some flu remedies may work wonders for some individuals and others may not do a thing. Natural Remedies are those that can be found growing in the garden or they may be found easily in the kitchen or around the house. You don’t need a doctor’s prescription for them and the recipes where probably used by your grandmother.

Some remedies are to ease the symptoms of flu but others are to prevent it from afflicting you in the first place. One of the most important preventative remedies is to wash hands with soap and water. You can also use alcohol based hand sanitizer but soap and water works much better. One of the ways people frequently get the flu is to touch the handle of the shopping cart at the store so be sure to take antibacterial wipes with you. Plastic will retain germs for quite some time and they will attach themselves to your hands once you touch the cart. Take a pen along with you to write a check or sign your name to a receipt instead of using the one at the cash register. There is no telling how many germs have been left on that pen in a short period of time and someone may have put it in their mouth or sneezed then touched it. Perhaps you are wary about wiping down things in public such as the hand rails in a subway car. Just don’t touch your face until you are able to wash those hands. When you touch your face you are giving germs an invitation to invade your body through your mouth or your nose.

Natural remedies to relieve the flu can be found at almost every drug store and even at Wal-Mart, so don’t worry if you can’t grow them yourself. One of the best herbs that will prevent and aid flu symptoms is Echinacea. This herb comes from the American Indians of the North American Plains. Echinacea helps by enhancing the immune system and making white blood cells battle infection more readily. In some instances those people that have a reaction to rag weed may have a reaction to Echinacea. This herb will not be effective if taken for long period of times so be sure to start taking it when you have been around those who have the flu or you start feeling some of the symptoms yourself. Take Echinacea for only a few weeks then stop for the same amount of time and resume taking it again so that your body will not become accustom to the effects. You can find this herb as a tincture or in a pill form. You can create your own tea by taking a spring and pouring a cupful of boiled water over it letting it sit for about 10 minutes. Take the sprig out, strain and drink it down.

Natural Remedies To Relieve Flu

Natural Remedies To Relieve Flu

Get ginger from the grocery store to make a good healing remedy that will help flu symptoms. The ginger you need to get is the root that resembles the hand of a human. You can also get ginger in a liquid tincture or in a pill. Ginger’s properties help ease the pain of sore sinuses and it also makes a fever lessen. Another property is that it will help you sleep. Take the ginger and cut off a 1 inch section, then peel the outer skin off. Place it in a cup and pour boiling water over top letting it sit for about 10 minutes and drink it all up.

Nature provides us with many other remedies that will help the effects of the flu. To get rid of a fever one must sweat and peppermint will do the trick. Sinuses can be cleared by sniffing the vapor from an infusion and your appetite will be stimulated. Another herb tea that can bring down a fever is Lemon Balm. An irritated throat can be eased by gargling with the antiseptic qualities of sage tea. Reducing fever is done well by the herb yarrow. The taste of yarrow is an acquired taste so make sure to add peppermint in the infusion to mask the taste. Elderberries have been found to relieve the flu in record times. You can find either capsules or go to a health store and find syrup that will do the trick very nicely.

It does not hurt to try any of these flu remedies and you might be able to head flu off at the pass or at least make things feel a little better. If nothing works, make some soup with chicken and noodles. It might be an old wives tale but it will help ease the pain and agony of the flu, at least for a little while.

Strengthening Your Immune System:

FIGHT SWINE FLU WITH NUTRITION THERAPY

After Tamiflu has been presumed not capable anymore in paralyzing swine flu a.k.a. H1N1 A Influenza, meanwhile The Indonesia Health Minister has proclaimed swine flu as an outbreak, what should we do to protect ourselves from this severe flu?

H1N1 A Influenza a.k.a. swine flu started attacking Indonesia on June, 24th 2009. The disease came along with the tourists, who had intention to spend their holidays in Bali, and also with those who got back from spending holidays abroad. This swine flu is unbearable, said a headline in one of local newspaper. It’s shocking that Jakarta has the second most swine flu patients after Bali. Meanwhile, it is said that tamiflu is no longer capable of curing either swine flu or bird flu. Then, what should we do to protect ourselves from these two severe flu?

Here is the simple and easy solution for your colds and flu using natural remedies from growing your own plants or just buy the ingredients.  Step by step making your home made natural remedies recipes:

Grow A Remedy

FLU TREATMENT

It is known that virus makes us got flu. Over-produce of nose mucus, dry throat, headache, and sometimes little bit fever. Having a cold is not the same with having influenza. Cold is not as hard as influenza. The symptoms are almost the same but cold’s symptoms are lighter than the syndromes of influenza. When you’re supposed to have a cold, but if you feel weary muscle, sore joint, and reaching 39ºC of fever, freezing, bad headache and dry cough, it means you’ve got yourself infected by influenza. Swine flu’s syndrome is kind of the same, only the virus caused it is not the same with influenza’s virus. It’s a different kind of virus.

A common cold can be healed in few days. As long as there’s no other symptoms or complications such as bronchitis/pneumonia; but swine flu is more vicious, because the symptoms are worst so that needs hospital treatment. Usually, patient is treated by tamiflu and IV (intra venus) as well for fluid addition. Tamiflu is a special medicine for killing swine flu and bird flu virus. However later on, tamiflu is no longer effective in killing those two beast virus. Now, the clinician expert is beginning to try other way: strengthening body’s immune, by nutrition therapy.

IMMUNE SYSTEM AND FOOD

Ulcer is part of digestive system in our body. It is kind of a ‘meeting place’ that connects inner body with its outer. All food and drinks must have through it. Inside there, all are digested and absorbed. The immunity system works to sort and put aside ‘unidentified’ protein in our food to be eliminated later. The other function of immunity system is to destroy microorganisms that came along with our meal, and we do not aware that the meal has been contaminated by bad microorganisms.

Good immune system is able to destroy every possibility disease in lung and ulcer. If you’re already infected by flu or other symptoms, strengthen your immune system is one of the best ways to deal with the disease. As well as swine flu, for you who had already infected by this, you still have a chance to increase your immunity to higher level, and slay swine flu virus in your body. And for you, who are still in perfect condition, it is suggested for you to take care of yourself by strengthening your body immune too. One of the ways is by applying nutrition therapy.

NUTRITION THERAPY

Once you’re infected by swine flu, take a lot of sleep and rest is the only medication you should get. Have some meal, a lot of drink mineral water, herbal tea, or soup. Flu virus hates fluids like juice and sweet drinks, but gives benefit to flu patient, since they contain antioxidant. It is the best treatment for flu patient or even for the healthy person as a protection.

Here are some foods which are able to increase our immune system: basil, spice, onion, garlic, cloves, rosemary, pepper, thyme, cinnamon, ginger, blackberry, blueberry, lemon, fresh yogurt, orange, and whole grains. Increase daily intake with vegetables and fresh fruits, especially fruits in colors (red, light yellow and green).

It is not recommended for patients to drink milk and other products contained milk (dairy), since milk and dairy products can increase runny-nose.

DON’T EAT ACIDIC FOOD/MEAL

Virus don’t kill us, Dr. Robert O. Young said in phmiracleliving@aol.com. He is the founder of The New Biology and The Science of Alkaline Living programme creator in United States of America. He thinks, virus has no killing-potential, and when we are infected by flu (either swine or bird) and then died, we are not dead because of flu. It is the “acid”. “Virus” itself in Latin means “poison” or “acid”. So, it means, when it is told that swine flu killed thousand of people, it’s not the swine flu virus caused it, it is the excess of the “acid” in human’s body. Where the “acid” comes from? It comes from every acidic food and drink we have everyday. And we have the acid too much.

Here are the examples of acidic food and drink: liquor, beer, beans, processed rice, corn, yeast, ketchup, poultry meat, red meat, and so on. The forbidden food is pork meat! Do you know why? Among all poultry meat, pork meat has the lowest pH level (almost reach the number of 2), therefore it is very much potential to make our blood become acid. Therefore, logically, the only way to avoid swine flu and any other flu is to have food with high base level rather than high acid level (it is told that we need our blood in enough base level to be healthy). Food with base level means food containing sodium mineral, magnesium, and potassium and carbonay calcium. We can find all those in vegetables and fresh colored fruits.

NOT A VIRUS

Dr. Robert O. Young says that the reason why we can be so susceptible of getting flu (swine or bird or any flu) is eating too much acidic garbage. We need to pay attention to this. Still from Dr. Robert O., the acidic excess can be triggered by stress and negative emotion. He suggests eliminating the acidic factors through every “holes” in our body such as eyes, ears, mouth, or nose. Don’t try to eliminate the acidic thing by medication or vaccination! What he meant was that we should control those “holes” from “acid” food consumption rudely and uncontrolled.

Pierre Jean Cousin and Kirsten Hartvig, in their book The Complete Guide to Nutritional Health, say that to avoid being infected by flu, we should increase our immune system. Besides suggesting having appropriate diet, there is another dominant factor: life style (healthy immune system depends on healthy body condition). Factors that included in life style: stress, pollution, liquor/alcohol, smoking, drugs, medicine intervention, obesity, lack of exercise, and being old. You MUST change that unhealthy life style, especially when you are in the middle age.

Now, you know how to protect yourself from swine flu attack. It is not the virus we should be afraid of, it is the “acid” stuff. Please do have a healthy diet (try not to eat too much acidic food and drink) and healthy life style. No vaccination and no medication. It’s easy right?

Home Remedies for Colds and Allergies

Filed Under (Home Remedies, Natural Remedies) by Eri on 01-06-2009

The weather nowadays seems so unpredictable although we have been learning so many years that certain months have particular seasons. Usually at these times, I often see many people got cold, sore throat or allergy. Here are some tips below to deal with such ailments using home remedies which I came across from a grandmother’s experience combine with my own.
Bronchitis: For mild bronchitis symptoms, use a vaporizer, take a steamy shower or turn the hot water on in the sink and cover your head and the sink with a towel (kind of a quick and easy sauna) to ease your discomfort and open up your chest.

Congestion: Red pepper, jalapenos and hot salsa will temporarily open up your nasal passages and break up congestion.

Eat plenty of varied fruits like oranges, kiwi, guava, papaya, etc. and make your plate a ‘rainbow’ plate which means regularly eat different colors of fruits.

Echinacea: drink Echinacea tea at the very first sign of a cold.

Green tea: Green tea is a natural antihistamine, which helps both allergies and colds. Choose Oolong type (Chinese green tea) or Ocha type (Japanese green tea).

Saline nose drops: Make your own nose drops by sprinkling some salt in boiled water (about 1/4 cup) to break up congestion and help you breathe (or you can get it already bottled and ready to use at the local drug store).

Sore throat, gargle salt water several times daily or gargle cider vinegar. Another way is you can chew on a cod liver oil pill, or drink hot green tea as (jujube tea).
Thyme: Make a tea with thyme or add a little to your recipes when you cook to break up congestion and relieve stuffy noses.

Vicks Up: Rub a little Vick’s Vapor Rub or another menthol salve on the upper chest, then rub what is left on your fingers under your nose, this can break up congestion and help you breathe more easily.

Doctor-Patient Relationship: Tips in The Practice Room

Filed Under (Miscellaneous, Natural Remedies) by Eri on 16-05-2009

Okay, now it’s the time for you as patient to take turn and being inside the practice room of your doctor, make sure to use your time efficiently and effectively since many people are waiting outside.

Here below are my experiences and I am sure would be useful for you:

  • Before going to a doctor, while at home: make a list of questions to confirm your doubts on your illness, impact and your medication whether they are truly significant to your health in the long run, or just being merely a worriness as a patient; also make sure that you already cross checked your questions with other reliable sources as comparison for your alternative treatment or healing.
