Insomnia Home Remedies Can Work For You

Insomnia home remedies can be just as effective as prescription medication at getting you to wind down and allow your body the rest that it so desperately needs. Since many of us spend our waking hours rushing here and there and trying to pack in as much as possible, our bodies sometimes can’t slow down and give in to sleep. Try the following suggestions before turning to pharmaceutical treatments.
Exercise can often be one of the most effective drug-free ways to relieve sleeping problems. By doing some rigorous exercise throughout the day and some mild exercise just before bed time you can solve your insomnia problems. Exercise tires out the body, but it also releases endorphins, which help us to relax.
Insomnia home remedies that include a herbal supplement or tea can also be very effective in counteracting sleeplessness. Herbs such as valerian, hops, passion flower, hypericum and chamomile are all used very successfully to help people get off to sleep. Some of these herbs work as mild sedatives and others work by reducing mental tension and anxiety that can lead to insomnia.
If you are experiencing problems with insomnia you should also look at how you have your bedroom set up. Sometimes we unwittingly doom ourselves to failure by putting televisions in our bedroom. Keep your bedroom for sleeping in only, your body should associate this space with rest.
Taking a hot bath around bed time can be a great way to get your body to unwind and feel drowsy. The heat in the bath aids muscle relaxation and can reduce tension. For extra help add a few drops of lavender oil to the water. Before you go to sleep some meditation exercises or light yoga can also be beneficial, this can help to clear our minds of the day’s stress and open up the body to rest.

There are many simple and effective insomnia home remedies that can work for you. Adults require around 8 hours of sleep every night in order to be able to function the next day. If you are not getting your quota every night, then it can lead to other health problems and stress.
