Trying to eat healthy as much as possible as been a perennial resolution for me. I keep trying to keep track of the nutrients I need and try to balance them as much as possible to achieve a good compromise of a tasty but healthy diet.
The best food advice I have received came from a book called “Food Rules” by Michael Pollan. He says “Eat foot. Not too much. Mostly plants.”
After reading the book, the word diet has been removed from my vocabulary. It isn’t about depriving yourself of this and avoiding that - looking good is about eating healthy and changing your mentality about food.
Pollan says to read the labels (don’t but anything where you can’t pronounce the first three ingredients) and shop the perimeter of the grocery store (where all of the fresh food usually is). I agree and this compliments the list you provided.
The other plus - buying fresh ingredients forces you to learn how to cook!
I will right away clutch your rss feed as I can not in finding your email subscription hyperlink or e-newsletter service. Do you’ve any? Please allow me understand in order that I may just subscribe. Thanks.
I actually made a resolution to increase my intake of fibrous fruits, vegetables and grains and cut down on unhealthy food around summer of this year and I hope to continue that resolve through the new year too and onward.
-Jean
Well, another new year is upon us and it’s time to make good on the resolutions. I’m sure we all have made some health-related resolution. Question is how long we can uphold them. I promise to maintain my regular intake of fruits and vegetables, the latter as salad mostly.
